Uncharitable is a feature-length film based on the book by Dan Pallotta and on his hugely popular Ted Talk, “How We Think About Charity is Dead Wrong,” viewed more than 4 million times.
Throughout the film we will deconstruct the anatomy of major media hit pieces on large nonprofit organizations that have achieved significant scale, revealing both the bias against scale, and how the reporters omit material facts and mercilessly distort the big picture to serve this bias. We will show the effect the stories have had on the organizations and their causes. The film will end by showing the the potential for positive impact if we liberate nonprofit organizations to allow their most daring dreams.
Viewers will leave movie theaters with a 180-degree reversal of their perspective on charities. They’ll see how virtually everything they’ve been taught about giving is upside down. They’ll leave hungry for change.
